The FAMED Face Database
The Faces and Motion Exeter Database (FAMED) is a video database of 32 male actors for use in psychological research. Each actor was filmed from two viewpoints (full-face and three-quarter) whilst they performed a series of facial motions including the telling of three jokes, a short conversation, six facial expressions (smiling, anger, fear, disgust, surprise and sadness) and rigid motion such as head rotation from left to right and up and down. The actors performed all actions three times; once with no headgear, once wearing a swimming cap to hide hair cues and once whilst wearing a wig.
There are four versions of the database:
Each database comprises of 2,303 video clips. All videos are in Quicktime format. The database is being made available to other research groups. The copyright remains with the database authors, Chris Longmore and Jeremy Tree. The database creation was funded by ESRC grant RES-000-22-2229.
The database is described in the following article. Please cite this article as the source of the database if you use it for research.

Threshold videos contain only pure black and white pixels. They are particularly useful for investigating the role of motion in face recognition due to the lack of pictorial cues present in the footage. These threshold videos were created from the original database with all pixels with an intensity greater than 128 made white, and all those below that point made black.

The database is split into three (quite large) files. Part 1 contains actors 1 to 10, part 2 contains actors 11 to 20 and part 3 contains actors 21 to 32.
These videos have been blurred using a pixel radius of 8 pixels.
